Segunda Vida Equine Rescue does not sell horses, but rather adopts them out to suitable and approved homes. Our adoptions are intended to be for the life of the horse and not until such time is no longer suitable to the purpose for which it was originally adopted.
Please read before proceeding to our available horses.
Segunda Vida Equine Rescue horses cannot be resold or re-homed unless our Rescue is notified of such a change and the reason for it and an approved Adoption Application has been submitted by the potential new owner.
The reason for this is to ensure that NO HORSES END UP IN A REPEATED TRAUMA SITUATION THAT WE MAY HAVE RESCUED THEM FROM INITIALLY, AND WE HAVE THE REASSURANCE OF KNOWING THEY ARE FOREVER SAFE FROM ANY TYPE OF HARM.
As we are continuously receiving specific requests for horses, we are able to offer assistance in placement.
If you are no longer able to keep your Segunda Vida Equine Rescue horse for any reason and THE CURRENT ARRANGEMENTS FOR THE HORSE NEED TO CHANGE, we request a written notice via email with a preferably minimum of 30 days notice (although the more notice, the better) as we may be able to place them through our special request file.
Each potential adopter is required to fill out an Adoption Application which must be approved before any horse will be adopted and is good for one year once its approved.
Please email us and specify "Looking to Adopt" in subject line email we will be happy to forward an application to you.
All Adoption Fee's are put back into our rescue program in order to support future horses that need assistance. Once adoption fees has been set, we will not take less than the offered fee. We typically invest far more than what we can adopt such horse(s) for and do not have room to barter on adoption fee's. Remember, you are helping rescued horses.
Adoption fees are based upon the amount of treatment and care that went into each horse. Fee's are also based upon the horses age, temperament, Registration and whether or not the horse is trained to ride. All adoption fee's are due and must be paid when adopter is approved and has agreed to adopt said horse(s).
We do no accept payment arrangements on adoption horse(s).
Please keep in mind that when you are adopting a rescue horse that you should plan to make this a life long companion. Typically horses that are treated and cared for appropriately, can live to be 35 years of age and older. Our goal is to strive to find to each rescued horse a loving, forever home.
Adopters are required to sign and abide by our adoption contract.
Adopters must be at least 18-years of age with no history of animal abuse or neglect.
Adoption fees must be paid in full and in advance before any horse can be adopted. (Adoption fees are not refundable).
SEEING A HORSE
Horses are shown to prospective adopters by appointment only. Please do not show up at any of our farms without an appointment and/or unannounced. Due to liability reasons, all visitors must make an appointment and be accompanied by one of the owners.
If you would like to see one of our horses, please contact us to schedule an appointment.
FOSTER HOMES & FREE LEASE
Foster farms are vital to our Rescue and we're always in search of additional locations to increase intake capacity and the number of horses we're able to rescue. Whether you're looking to foster one or a group of horses, please contact us for more information on this program.
If you don't have a barn or property of your own but would still like to help, we offer free-lease fosters for those who wish to experience horse ownership without the full commitment. This allows us to open up a spot for another horse while our rescue is given the love and attention he or she deserves with out off-site foster free-lease program.
Each of our adoptable horses is available for foster-free-lease so please contact us to inquire about this new and exciting program!
